Mr. Magpie by KeldBach Mr. Magpie by KeldBach
The Magpie (Pica pica) is usually a rather shy bird, but I was lucky to capture this guy from inside through the window. Unfortunate, its beautiful blue wing feathers don't show in this shot.

It's so rare to see them up close like this. You can get a real sense of their intelligence.

A terrific portrait, bravo!

Beautiful. Magpies are usually timid and difficult to shoot (photograph).
Nicely done sir!

♥ magpie...and for answer :iconvoid-hamlet-herself: it's very difficult to know if it's a lad or a lass ;-)
They have the same coloration...unlike the blackbird(they are both of the same family).
Anyway nice shot!

Me too, and I think they are quite clever birds. We mostly have Jackdaws and Crows here, and the occasional Magpie. But it's long time ago I have seen a Raven around here.

Oh...they are for sure!I saw:jackdaw(only this year...),magpie(from a distance),hooded crow and an eurasian jay.
I never seen a raven...but I saw an alpine chough some years ago in a naturalistic trip.
My cousin had two raven as a "pet" many years ago...they have a big garden with a big tree and she kept the two birds free in the garden. But they never escaped...

I'm just fine, except I hate the nasty weather we're having here. I ought to go out and take some pictures of the snow and ice, but it's not easy to press the shutter when your fingers are frozen :(

I have this wicked habit, which leads me to inadverently peel away the preciousness of the moment, by sinking into particularities. Off with ye, bad habit o'mine! Off with ye! :XD:
