I like the subtilty of the HDR in this image. It really brings out some of the details without it looking 'too' HDR.

I was surprised to see how dramatic the sky turned out. The sun rays were barely visible in the original photo.

That is amazing with HDR how certain thinks just pop up almost out of nowhere. I am still trying to perfect HDR to a point where I like it.
It's very easy to over-do the effect. Since my current tripod is very unstable, I have mostly experimented with single shots. I sometimes skip the HDR processing and go straight to the tone mapping. That way it's easier to control, and I'm often surprised by the details hidden in even a JPG shot.

I am still trying to get my brain wrapped around the whole tone mapping. I haven't gotten that figured out yet.Just a matter of experimentation.
You can easily find some tutorials on the net. The result varies though, depending on which program you use, but here's a good tutorial about how to do it manually in Photoshop: Layered HDR Tone Mapping. Hope you find it useful :)
