Went butterfly hunting today and found three new species that I didn't have in my collection. The Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta), the Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria), and the Queen of Spain Fritillary (Issoria lathonia), which is quite rare here.
What lense did you use? Did you have to get very close? These seem to be very shy, whenever I try to capture them on camera they manage to fly away. And they seem to have a mean habit of flying right around you, then stop flapping, and gliding away smoothly so you can't follow them with your eyes anymore...
I used a 105mm macro lens, and I got pretty close to this butterfly. It was resting on the ground for a little while and didn't seem to mind me taking a few close-ups
